The Executive Committee and Board of Directors of the Oromo Studies Association call upon their members to participate in the nomination of this year’s OSA awards in the following categories.

OSA Award of Distinction
For an individual, group, or institution
The OSA Award of Distinction will be given to an individual, group or an institution that has made major financial, scholarly, or service contributions to OSA or Oromo Studies Association. Contributors who are identified to have given above and beyond the call of duty and expectation in advancing the mission of OSA through publication, presentation, service, talent, technical and/or material resources will be recognized by this award.

Please send the name of the nominee with an accompanying support letter stating that the individual qualifies the requirements stated in the guideline to:

Outstanding Student Award
For a current or recent student of the Oromo
The OSA Outstanding Student Award will recognize an exceptional student who is enrolled in an educational institution or less than three years past termination of formal education who has made a significant contribution through scholarship, leadership, service and/or produced original creative work or presentations that advance Oromo studies. The student awardee should exemplify maturity, dedication, confidence and work of quality and originality. He/she should demonstrate a strong potential for sustainable scholarship in Oromo studies.

Lifetime Achievement Award
Recognizing a sustained and significant contribution to Oromo studies
The Board of Directors of the Oromo Studies Association invites members to participate in the nomination process for this year’s OSA Lifetime Achievement Award. This award recognizes an individual who has made a sustained and significant contribution to Oromo studies. The contribution of the awardee must reflect the vision and mission of the Association and be recognized for its originality and lasting impact on Oromo studies.
Eligible candidates include those who
- Conducted research, compiled data, or brought to light aspects of Oromo knowledge through published books, journal articles, or edited works.
- Made scholarly presentations or undertaken original study that has contributed to Oromo literature, history, culture, or related fields over a sustained period.
- Demonstrated notable leadership, service, scholarship, or other talent on a continuous basis.

Please send the name of your nominee along with a support letter explaining how the individual meets the criteria outlined above to:

How to Submit a Nomination
The process is the same across all three award categories. Each card above includes the specific contact for that award.

Confirm Your Membership
Ensure you are a current OSA member in good standing with dues paid for the current year before proceeding.

Prepare Your Materials
Gather the nominee’s name and write an accompanying support letter explaining how the individual meets the stated criteria for the award you are nominating them for.

Send to the Right Contact
Email your nomination to the address shown on the award card above. Award of Distinction and Outstanding Student nominations go to the Executive Committee; Lifetime Achievement nominations go to the Board of Directors.
