Membership in the Oromo Studies Association is open to persons who support the mission of the association, accept the provisions of the by-laws, participate in the activities of the association and pay an annual membership fee.

OSA is a volunteer organization. Membership fees support the work of the association, its conferences and particularly the publication of The Journal of Oromo Studies.

To become a member of OSA, fill out the membership form. You can also become a member of OSA at the registration desk during OSA conferences.  Once registered, members will need to renew their membership on an annual basis to remain in good standing. Students are encouraged to join at a ~75% discount on regular membership.

Benefits of OSA Membership

Members are added to a members’ Listserv for announcements and updates, they become part of the General Assembly, a critical voting body of OSA, over time they become eligible to serve in various roles and offices to ensure that OSA continues to meet its mission. Members receive first notice of the issuance of the scholarly journal (The Journal of Oromo Studies – JOS, now published in Open-Source format, making it globally available) and they receive discounts towards OSA conferences and events. Most importantly, OSA members join an intellectual community where they have the opportunity to network, exchange ideas and support knowledge production.
