Alemayehu Kumsa

Alemayehu Kumsa is a senior lecturer of sociology of management at ŠKODA AUTO University in Mladá Boleslav and sociology of genocide at Charles University, Faculty of Humanities in Prague. He is the President-elect for (2023-2024) of the Oromo Studies Association.

Alemayehu is a serving member of the editorial board of Historical Sociology: A journal of Historical Social Sciences at Charles University. He was a member of the Executive Committee of Czech Social and Cultural Anthropology Association (2012- 2014). He is a member of the International Sociology Association (ISA); the Research Committee of Armed Forces and Conflict Resolution (RC01); the Oromo Studies Association; the Czech Masaryk Sociology Association; the Czech Social and Cultural Anthropology Association; an Executive member of the Network of Oromo Studies (NOS). He is an active participant of International Sociology Association organizing panels and always presents papers: e.g. XVII World Congress of Sociology, Yokohama: Japan, 13-19 July 2014; XIX World Congress of Sociology Toronto: Canada, 15-21 July 2018.

He published many articles in various journals, which were accredited by Web of Sciences, Scopus and other peer review journals.

Alemayehu published chapters in many books. He was also the co-author with Šubrt J., & Ruzzedu M. of the book Explaining Social Processes: Perspective from Current Social Theory and Historical Sociology published in 2020 by Springer.

He earned his M.A and Ph.D.in sociology from Charles University, Faculty of Arts in Prague.
