Asnake Teshome Erko was elected to the OSA Board of Directors in 2021. He has been conducting research and writing about Gadaa and the Oromo Indigenous Religion since 2000, has published books on the Oromo Indigenous Religion, Irreecha and the Oromo struggle and has presented on such topics at OSA conferences. He currently works as a procurement advisor for the Bergen Municipality in Norway. Previously, he studied pedagogy at Kotebe Teachers College and worked as a journalist and teacher in Oromia, Ethiopia, for several years. He obtained a BA in Language and Literature from Addis Ababa University, a BA in Leadership in the Public Sector from the Business Institute of Norway and an MA in Linguistics from the University of Bergen, Norway.
