Dessalegn Negeri Guyo (Ph.D., MSW) is an assistant professor of social work at Youngstown State University Ohio from January 2022 to the present. He was an Associate Professor of Master of Social Work at Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota (November 2020- June 2022). He has 20 years plus teaching, research and community service at Addis Ababa university (2007-2016), Jimma University (2001-2003 & 2006-2007), and Indira Gandhi National Open University Africa regional office (2009-2016), Bowie state university as adjunct 2017 to 2021, Texas A&M university-Commerce 2021-2022 Assistant professor and Coppin State University as adjunct professor 2016-2017 & guest lecturer/professor in other universities. His research areas are on multi-sectoral multi-stakeholder child protection networks and practices, guddifachaa practices of Oromo society, women’s roles and statuses in agro-industry, child vulnerability indicators in poor households in urban centers, community based development approaches, human rights and immigration, and social work practice and policies with vulnerable communities and populations
