Ibrahim Amae Elemo, MD, MPH, FACP is a board certified Internal Medicine Hospitalist at University of Minnesota Medical Center West Bank where he holds clinical privileges at several hospitals in Minnesota. He graduated from Gondar College of Medical Sciences in 1999 with a Doctor of Medicine degree. He served as a General Practitioner at Nagelle Borana Hospital where he also served as Borana-Zone HIV Prevention and Control office coordinator. He conducted studies on reproductive health and gender relations in Borana and was the mastermind behind the revival of the Gumi El- Dallo Assembly of the Borana Oromo Gada System in 2003. He later graduated with MPH Degree from Addis Ababa University in 2006. Dr. Elemo presented articles at various academic conferences based on his research in Borana and earned the “ The young emerging scientist award” in 2005 from Ethiopian Medical Association. He played crucial roles in the promotion and revival of the Irreecha Ceremony and Dirre Sheikh Hussein Anaajina annual pilgrimage ceremony during his tenure as the Director of the Oromia National State HIV/AIDS Prevention & Control Office; when these institutions where advertised on a national TV and  financially supported fully by the office he was leading for the first time in history. After Immigrating to the US, he taught courses as adjunct professor at City Colleges of Chicago and before joining residency training at Louis Weiss Memorial Hospital. He served as OSA President in  2014. He is a founding member of the International Oromo Health Professionals Association and served as a board member since its founding and as its  President for 2 years. He is the author of  the book “The Roles of Traditional institutions and the 38th Gumi Gayo Assembly “
