Dr. Mosisa Aga is serving a three-year term as an OSA Board member to which he was elected in 2023. He has served OSA at different capacities since 2006: OSA membership development
officer from 2006 to 2011, president-elect in 2011/2012, president in 2012/2013, OSA board member from 2015 to 2018 and several at other ad-hoc committees. Dr. Aga received his M.Sc. degree in mathematical statistics from Wayne State University (WSU), Detroit, MI in 2004 and his Ph.D. in mathematics from the same university in 2006. Currently he is an Associate Professor of mathematics at Auburn University Montgomery (AUM), Alabama. He has 17 years of teaching experience at AUM during which he authored several scholarly articles in mathematical statistics – particularly, in time series. Prior to coming the USA, he received his M.Sc. degree in mathematics from Addis Ababa University (AAU), Ethiopia. He also taught mathematics at various levels in Ethiopia: at different high schools, at Adama Teachers’ Training Institute (TTI), and at AAU. In 1992, Dr. Aga was one of a team of experts who prepared the very first mathematics textbooks and teacher’s guides for elementary schools and TTI’s in Afan Oromo.
