I am a PhD candidate at the University of Manitoba with interdisciplinary training in Economics and Linguistics. I hold a BA in Economics with a minor in Arabic from the American University in Cairo, an MA in Economics from Dalhousie University, and an MA in Linguistics from York University in Toronto.

My work focuses on heritage language development, particularly the standardization and promotion of the Oromo language. I am serving as a language consultant for the University of Toronto and the Afranaph Project at Rutgers University. I currently work as a research assistant at the University of Manitoba.

I hold certifications in translation and language education, including NAATI (Australia), TESOL (Canadian College of Educators), and the TACT teaching certificate from York University.

My publications include Towards Standardising the Oromo Language (in Oromic), a coauthored Oromo-English dictionary with Obbo Taha Abdi, and several peer-reviewed articles in venues such as the Journal of Oromo Studies 26(1&2).
