Since its inception more than three decades ago, the Oromo Studies Association (OSA) has successfully promoted Oromo scholarship, history, culture, and identity through its mid-year and annual conferences. Every year, OSA’s volunteers have been the backbone of ensuring that such gatherings are a success. Further, OSA’s volunteers contribute their time, energy, skills, passions, and resources every year to ensure that OSA’s initiatives are accessible and available to the public.

Our volunteers often handle critical aspects of the conferences and continue to be integral to the institution throughout the year. During the mid-year and annual meetings, volunteers work closely with the Executive Committee to establish local organizing committees, assist in event planning, registration, promotion and public engagement, and fundraising. Many volunteers often continue to be involved with OSA over their lifetime and serve in various capacities as members. Most importantly, our volunteers are an integral part of OSA’s community of scholars, and they benefit significantly by networking and forming relationships with conference attendees as well as OSA members.

OSA is immensely grateful to all of its past and present volunteers spanning across the globe for their efforts to ensure that OSA meets its mission of producing quality research, dialogue, and scholarship on behalf of Oromo society. We hope that you can join us and volunteer for our upcoming events. If interested and available, please register to become an OSA Volunteer by filling out the form.
